An email has been sent misusing the firm name Sullivan & Cromwell LLP in relation to a copyright compliance notice.

What is the scam?

The sender of the email purported to act as the 'authorized legal representatives' of Sullivan & Cromwell LLP, which it said was the lawful copyright owner of referenced materials.

The email was sent from the email address noreply@appsheet.com.

Any business or transaction through the email address above is not undertaken by a firm or individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.

Is there a genuine firm or person?

The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine firm of solicitors called Sullivan & Cromwell MNP LLP (SRA ID 308712) The firm’s genuine email domain is @sullcrom.com.

Sullivan & Cromwell MNP LLP have confirmed that they do not have any connection to the email mentioned in the alert above.

What should I do?

When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary.
