Warning: Correspondence misusing the names of Basharat Ali and Aman Solicitors Advocates

19 January 2026

Correspondence, including messages and a 'Letter of Authority', falsely purporting to be from Aman Solicitors Advocates in relation to an immigration matter.

What is the scam?

The SRA has been advised that false messages, correspondence and documents have been sent to members of the public in relation to supposedly proceeding with immigration work. The documents include a supposed 'Letter of Authority' to undertake immigration work and misuse the name of a genuine firm of solicitors and a genuine solicitor (see below).

The documents seen by the SRA are from December 2015 onwards, and provide false contact details, including an address of 502a High Rd, Wembley, HA9 7BH, a telephone number of +44 7940 443927 and an email address of ‘basharat.ali@amansoliciitors.com’ (with an erroneous double letter 'i' in the domain name, see below for contact details of a genuine firm and solicitor). Documents provided also appear to show that a member of the public made a connected payment to someone using the name 'Moustafa Al Hawamd'.

The SRA does not authorise or regulate any solicitors named 'Moustafa Al Hawamd', and any business or transaction through the contact details set out above are not undertaken by a firm or individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.

Is there a genuine firm or person?

The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine firm of solicitors called Aman Solicitors Advocates (London) Ltd (SRA ID 463069), which trades as Aman Solicitors Advocates. The genuine firm uses the genuine email domain @amansolicitors.com and its genuine website is www.amansolicitors.com and contact number is 020 8782 3776. Its head office is 83-85 Baker Street, Marylebone, London, W1U 6AG. Up until March 2024, the Firm operated from 1st and 2nd Floor, 502a High Road, Wembley, Middlesex, HA9 7BH but that address is no longer used by the firm.

The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine solicitor called Basharat Ali (SRA ID 169529) whose genuine email address is basharat.ali@amansolicitors.com and who is a Director at Aman Solicitors Advocates (London) Ltd.

The genuine firm Aman Solicitors Advocates (London) Ltd and the genuine solicitor Basharat Ali have both confirmed they have no connection to the documents referred to in the alert above.

The SRA also authorises and regulates another firm called Aman Solicitors Advocates Ltd, which is based in Birmingham and Coventry and is not believed to be connected to the above matters.

What should I do?

When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
