What is the scam?

A fraudulent Copyright Infringement Notice is being sent purporting to be from Gowen & Stevens LLP (the firm).

The Copyright Infringement Notice purporting to be from the firm is being sent from email address heewaffgedisc1989@gmail.com. The footer of the Copyright Infringement Notice does use the firms correct email address, telephone number and website.

Any business or transaction through the email address heewaffgedisc1989@gmail.com is not undertaken by a firm or individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.

Is there a genuine firm or person?

The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine firm of solicitors called Gowen & Stevens LLP.

The firm's head office is based at 5 Mulgrave Chambers, 26-28 Mulgrave Road, Sutton, SM2 6LE.

The genuine firm's telephone number is 020 8661 8611. All emails from the firm use the domain @gowenandstevens.com.

The genuine firm has confirmed that they do not have any genuine connection to the email address heewaffgedisc1989@gmail.com.

What should I do?
